PEX, in particular the B-type silane PEX in SESTA pipes, is a polyethylene derivative in which certain hydrogen atoms are replaced by chemical groups that bind the polymer macromolecules together in a process called cross-linking. Thus, while in polyethylene the polymer chains can flow with increasing temperature and the product becomes deformable, in PEX this flow is not possible and the product remains stable.
For this reason, it can also be used, coupled with aluminium, for pipes in high-temperature heating systems.
The SESTA PE-Xb/AI/PE-Xb multilayer pipe consists of 5 layers: PEX on the inside and outside bonded via two special adhesive layers to a longitudinally welded (TIG butt-welded) aluminium alloy intermediate layer. It guarantees a high level of mouldability of the structure, total hygiene and absolute resistance to corrosion thanks to the fact that the aluminium cannot come into contact with the masonry because it is protected by the plastic layers.

PE-Xb/EVOH

PEX, in particular the B-type silane PEX in SESTA pipes, is a polyethylene derivative in which certain hydrogen atoms are replaced by chemical groups that bind the polymer macromolecules together in a process called cross-linking. Thus, whereas in polyethylene with increasing temperature the polymer chains can flow with each other and the product becomes deformable, in PEX this flow is not possible and the product remains stable. EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) is a copolymer that, even in very thin thicknesses, prevents the passage of oxygen and other gases. Coupled with PEX, it does not allow oxygen to enter the pipes and thus prevents sludge from forming and reduces the possibility of corrosion in metal equipment in heating and refrigeration circuits. The SESTA PE-Xb/EVOH/PE-Xb multilayer pipe consists of 5 layers: PEX inside and outside bonded by two special adhesive layers to an EVOH intermediate layer. This pipe guarantees a high level of mouldability, complete oxygen barrier, total hygiene and absolute corrosion resistance. The SESTA oxygen barrier hose can also be produced with three layers, respectively PEX, adhesive, EVOH. The characteristics are identical to those of the five-layer hose, however, the outer EVOH layer tends to deteriorate in contact with moisture.

PE-XA/EVOH

3/5-layer PEX-A pipe is a type of pipe commonly used for plumbing and heating systems. This type of pipe is called 'PEX' which stands for 'cross-linked polyethylene' and is known for its flexibility and strength. The abbreviation 'A' stands for 'cross-linked', which indicates that the material has been chemically modified to make it more resistant to heat and pressure. The 5 layers refer to the structure of the pipe, which usually consists of: 1 Inner layer: This layer is in direct contact with water and is usually made of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX-A) which is suitable for contact with drinking water 2 Adhesive layer: This layer helps adhere the inner pipe to the outer layers to ensure a tight seal. 3 EVOH layer: Oxygen barrier useful for protection and preservation from deterioration 4 Other adhesive layer: This layer further contributes to the seal between the layers. 5 Outer layer: The pipe is protected by an outer layer, often made of high-density polyethylene, which provides additional protection and resistance to wear.

PE-XC/EVOH

The PE-XC 3/5-layer pipe consists of an inner layer of electrostatically cross-linked high-density polyethylene PEX-C (electron bombardment, a process that guarantees homogeneous and permanently stable cross-linking without the risk of discontinuity, guaranteeing maintenance over time), a layer of binder, an intermediate layer of ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) to act as an oxygen barrier, another layer of binder and finally a layer of cross-linked PEX-C type polyethylene to mechanically protect the EVOH barrier. the product complies with EN 15875; DIN16892. (95°C/6-10bar)
